summer therapy fun in Charlotte

There are lots of fun pediatric therapy options for the summer at Child & Family Development:
  • Aquatic/ Pool-Based Therapy:  A physical therapist, Erin Harkins, and an occupational therapist, Michelle Taylor, are in the water at the Harris YMCA
  • Feeding Group:  An occupational therapist, Ellen Bruce, leads a small group of kids and parents to expand mealtime choices and skills
  • First Strokes Handwriting: Cheryl Wigley, Occupational Therapist, is seeking participants for this structured class for school-aged kids
  • Karate:  Amy Sturkey, Physical Therapist, offers this active class with the assistance of a black-belt instructor
  • Managing Bullies:  Our newest psychologist, Stephen Elliott has created this series for kids to build self-confidence
  • Movin' & Shakin':  Meg Johnson, Music Therapist and Amy Sturkey, Physical Therapist bring music and movement together in this long-time favorite
  • Parents Unite- Dealing With Sibling Rivalry:  A child psychologist, Stephen Elliott, initiates the support group this summer
  • Social Skills Groups:  A variety of sessions are available.  Carol Capehart, child psychologist, Elaine Byrd, Speech Therapist and others work with different age groups, diagnoses and focuses
  • Yoga Moves:  This modified class is a great way to build core strength and work on balance
