Pediatric Pain and Chronic Illness - Stepping Beyond the Medical Model

pediatric pain and chronic illnessWelcome to my blog, designed for parents and professionals in the area of pediatric illness and pain management! As a new member of the clinical team at Child & Family Development, I hope to develop this blog as a venue for imparting information, education, advice, support, and resources.

With over a decade of experience working with chronically ill children and their families, and advanced training as a Pediatric Pain Management specialist, I developed the STEPP Program in recognition of the limited availability of such specialized resources in the community setting.

It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes a team to keep them healthy! From a structured pain program that incorporates advanced biofeedback and hypnotherapy, to more traditional psychotherapy, stress management, and parent and family support services, I strive to provide the highest quality of patient care.

STEPP is my passion, yet a balanced lifestyle is a priority. Whether hiking, sailing, tennis, or exploring the area with my four-legged friend in tow, the warm climate is a welcome break from the chilly Northeast!

I hope you will  join me on my journey as I develop the STEPP program,  and along the way address topics of interest, share parent struggles, and captivate your heart with true stories of bravery, strength, and hope from children and adolescents who, despite being ill, taught me to never forget the healing power of a smile.
